Wedding - Answers

Q. My wedding is coming up soon.. I’m afraid I won’t be able to find a photographer. Can I book your services on short notice?
A. Unlike many of the professional wedding photographers in St. Louis, Warwick offers a large team of trained professionals. We have the capability to photograph multiple weddings on any given day, so please call us to check our availability.

Q. How much do your services cost?
A. Our wedding photography services start at $1,500 for a la carte and complete collections start at $2,494. Special pricing is available for Friday and Sunday events, as well as some of the off-season months. All of our Collections are flexible and we customize them to meet your needs, so we encourage you to come into our studio and talk with Mr. Warwick or one of our staff so we can get an idea of the services you would like on your special day.

Q. Who will my photographer be? Do I get to pick? Do I get to meet my photographer beforehand?
A. Generally your photographers will be assigned to you as you book your wedding. For special requests please call the studio. You do have the option to meet your photographer.

Q. Do you use film or digital?
A. We use medium-format film. Medium format film is four times the size of regular 35mm film, which means we can create an unrivaled level of detail and quality in your portraits. We can produce beautiful enlargements that digital cameras cannot even begin to match. The lens quality on medium format film cameras is much higher and can capture more detail in clothing, flowers, hair, etc. especially in contrast of a white wedding gown and a black tuxedo.

Q. Since you use film, if I want high-resolution images to keep, will I be receiving negatives?
A. No. Once your photographs are taken, the negatives are scanned in at the highest possible resolution and anything you will receive will be on disc, making it easy for you to share your wedding photos.

Q. Can we have pictures taken at different locations?
A. Yes. Your wedding photography coverage is hourly, and you can go to as many different locations as you like. We can follow you to the hair salon, ceremony, reception, and an unlimited number of other locations for creative, fun, and romantic portraits! If you’re not sure where would be best, our photographers can suggest places based on your personal taste.

Q. My wedding is small. Will one photographer be enough?
A. We recommend having two photographers no matter what the size of your wedding. Most brides and grooms do not want to see each other prior to the ceremony—although this is a very special and nerve-wracking time for you both… a time that you might miss out on if you only have one photographer. We also do beautiful, creative lighting that requires two photographers to capture. Warwick prides itself on giving each bride and groom, and their families, almost a 3-D version of the wedding as they are looking through their album—there are so many different angles and places to be that this is possible only with two photographers.

Q. I have booked your services for eight hours. What if my reception runs longer and I want the photographers to stay?
A. Your photographers are YOURS for the day, and they would be happy to stay as late as necessary to capture your wedding memories. Additional hours are billed at an hourly rate, please inquire for more details.

Q. What is your photography style?
A. Our style is a blend of traditional and photojournalistic; however we tailor our services to meet each client’s particular needs. We pride ourselves on capturing every part of your special day and the love between two families being joined together.

Q. I just got engaged and would like some photos of my fiance and myself. Do you offer engagement sessions?
A. Yes. We offer three different types of engagement sessions; in-studio, on-location, or around town (multiple locations.) Engagement sessions can be included in your package at a discounted rate or booked a la carte. Engagement sessions can provide you with a photograph to use for save the date cards, a signing board or signing book to bring to your wedding. They’re also great gifts for family members.

Q. Will I be able to view my wedding photographs online?
A. Yes; most collections include internet posting of all wedding images for 30 days. Friends and family will have the opportunity to order photographs straight from our website.

Family Session Information – Answers

Q. Where can our family be photographed?
A. You may choose to have your family photographed at your home, in a beautiful park setting, or in our studio on Brentwood Boulevard.

Q. If I choose to be photographed in your studio, where will my session take place?
A. Your photography session will take place at our new studio located at 1750 S. Brentwood Boulevard. It is an office building located at the corner of Brentwood and Rose Avenue (across the street from the Whole Foods/Circuit City plaza, just south of Hwy 64/40.) When you turn onto Rose Avenue the building is on the corner, on the right side. Park in the surface lot located behind the building (also on your right). Please do not park in any lots that require tokens or payment, as we are unable to provide this. The surface lot behind the building is free. Go inside the back of the building (you will walk through the bottom level of the parking garage) and take the elevator to the second floor, suite 265.

Q. If I choose to be photographed at an outdoor location, where will it be and where will we meet the photographer?
A. When you are booking your session, you can discuss potential locations with the photographer. Any place that is special to your family, or a local park that would provide ample scenery is always a good place. For scheduling purposes, the location must be decided upon at the time of booking. When your appointment is confirmed, the photographer will let you know exactly where to meet. It is important to provide a mobile phone number so we can contact you.

Q. How long will my session last?
A. Your session will last approximately 45 minutes from the start of your scheduled appointment time. Please arrive on time so that you may have the maximum amount of time with the photographer. Unfortunately we cannot be responsible for missed or late appointments. If you arrive more than 20 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule.

Q. What should I wear or bring to my session?
A. You should arrive dressed in the outfit you would like to wear for your family portrait, and bring an additional outfit for couple or child photos if you would like (additional outfits for in-studio sessions only). Some families choose casual clothing and others want to be more formal, but no matter what you pick it is important to be coordinated! Solid colors work well and tend to be more timeless (think about how long you will have this portrait hanging on your wall.) For casual outfits, jeans with white button down shirts or khakis and black sweaters are great: just avoid mixing light and dark colors on different family members. Avoid stripes, plaids, flowers, or any other bold designs. Solid colors and long sleeved shirts are best.

The photographer will take a variety of poses so don’t forget to wear coordinating pants or skirts, and shoes, with each outfit. Even if you prefer close-up photos, it’s possible a portion of your lower body will show (especially with large groups or families with significant height differences.) With formal clothing, having the right footwear is especially important. Checking your clothes for wrinkles ahead of time is a good idea, too!

Q. Can we bring our pet to the photography session?
A. You are welcome to bring props such as a soccer ball, instrument, your favorite baseball team’s cap or even the family pet! Keep in mind your pet’s temperament and if they are able to sit still for a photograph. If you choose to bring a pet, please make sure they are on a leash.

Q. How many different poses and backgrounds will I get?
A. The studio has many different backgrounds. The photographer will choose a variety based on the type and color of your outfits. The number of poses you will have from your family session depends on if you arrive on time to your appointment and spend a minimal amount of time in the changing room, but generally each family will have at least 15 different poses. If you are being photographed in your home or at an outdoor location, the number of different backgrounds and poses you will have depends on the specific location, to be assessed by the photographer when they arrive. If you have an idea of something you would like, or have seen in someone else’s photographs, please let us know! These are your family portraits and we want you to love them.

Q. What type of poses will I be photographed in?
A. The photographer will photograph your family in a variety of poses, both full length and close-up. The specific poses will vary based on the number of people in your family and type of outfit you have chosen. We have several different sets and backgrounds, so please let the photographer know if you see something you like!

Q. Do I have to pay anything in advance?
A. Yes. We require full payment of your session fee at the time of booking. We cannot “hold” or arrange an appointment for you until we receive payment. Your session fee covers your time in the studio or on location with the photographer. Any portraits and enhancements you choose are additional.

Q. When do I get to see my pictures?
A. At the time of your photography session, you will need to set up another appointment to view the photographs, typically one week later. Please bring your calendar to the session.

Q. Where do I go to see my pictures? Will I get a proof book? What packages and products do you have?
A. To view your photographs, you will go to our office location at 9020 Manchester Road (just west of Brentwood Blvd). You and your family will get to see a slideshow of all your portraits on a large projection screen. You will then have an opportunity to pick out poses and purchase your package. Please allow an hour and a half to pick out your pictures—we know you’ll love all of them! We do not send proof books home. Please see our “What We Offer” page for more information about the products we offer.

If you have any coupons or gift certificates, please bring them with you.

Q. What if I need to cancel my session?
A. Please let us know 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel your session. When you call, have your calendar ready so we can pick out a new day. Our studio and office locations are open by appointment only.

Pregnancy and Baby Photographs - Answers

Q. We have a baby, are you able to photograph babies?
A. We love photographing babies and have extensive experience with them. If there is a baby or small child in your family, consider their daily schedule when booking your appointment. Try to schedule your photography session at a time when your child will not be tired or hungry. It’s a good idea to bring something for them to snack on just in case, and any favorite toys they have… even some type of noise maker that the photographer can use to attract their attention to the camera. Making your child feel comfortable in an unfamiliar environment can be a big help in bringing out those adorable smiles!

Q. We have a newborn baby and are interested in having our child photographed as a newborn, at 3 months, at 6 months, and at 1 year. Do you have a program for this?
A. Yes we have a special program to photograph your child from birth and every three months after that for the first year. After the age of 1 we photograph them every year on or around their birthday.

Q. I have a newborn baby and would rather have photographs taken of my child in my home instead of going to a studio – do you come to my home?
A. Yes. It is a wonderful experience for new mothers to have their newborn photographed in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

Q. I’m an expectant mother and would like to have pregnancy photographs – do you do this?
A. We appreciate the beauty and joy associated with the pregnancy of a child and would be happy to help you preserve this wonderful time in your life.

Q. Can you come to my home to take pregnancy photographs? I think I would feel more comfortable there?
A. We understand the importance of your feelings and sensitivity associated with pregnancy photography and work with you to help you feel as comfortable as possible. We would be more than happy to come to your home to create your pregnancy photographs.
